When I was two years old I had a cat named Shadow. Her fur was deep grey like smoke. Even now I keep a picture of her on my wall. She was my first pet, and she played her role well. Shadow lived with my mother and I in our small apartment, but I was always reminded that she didn't belong to me. Shadow was my fathers cat, he had left her with us while he was off with other girls.
